Sleep Testing
Sleep Center Testing
Sleep testing only works if you sleep — so we designed our testing facility to feel like a luxury hotel. With award-winning Casper mattresses and premium bedding, your private suite will be the closest thing to a home away from home. You’re welcome to bring personal items and your own pillow. Plus, your room can accommodate a partner, parent or caregiver, as needed.
At-Home Testing
We’ll provide you with a home sleep kit, including a testing device and a one-on-one consult to walk you through how to use it. You’ll sleep in your own bed and simply return the testing device to us the next day. Home sleep kits can be delivered directly to you, anywhere in the U.S.
What To
Expect
Before your sleep study, please eat a routine dinner and take your usual medications unless otherwise directed by your physician. Please take a shower before coming to your appointment and remove all make up, nail polish, lotions, oils and hair products. Also, please do not drink caffeine or alcohol within 8 hours of your sleep study. Caffeine may limit your amount of sleep and alcohol may alter the results of your study.
Appointments generally begin between 7:00-8:30 pm depending on your typical bedtime. It is very important that you arrive at your scheduled time. Once you arrive at our sleep testing facility, your sleep technologist will escort you to your suite where you will be given time to settle in and get ready for the night. Each private room includes a daybed for parents or caregivers to sleep, Casper award-winning mattresses, premium furnishings and luxury bedding.
The data for the sleep test consists of electrodes to monitor brain waves, muscle activity, heartbeat, oxygen levels, breathing patterns and oxygen levels. This set up generally takes about an hour, and you will be able to watch TV or listen to music during this process. Once complete, you may have some time to relax before lights out, which is typically no later than 11:00 pm in order to allow enough time to record the required amount of data for your study. It’s okay if you can’t fall asleep right away, the required time for sleep studies is recording time, not necessarily sleep time. During the study, your sleep technologist may need to enter your room to reposition sensors or to begin CPAP treatment if this was requested by your physician. Your sleep technologist will be awake all night and you may call them if you need to use the restroom, or you have any concerns. They are here for you and will do everything they can to make your study as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
In the morning, your study will end anytime between 5:00 am and 6:30 am, or at a specific time you wish to be woken up. We have a beautiful shower if needed, and towels and toiletries will be available for you. Since there is only one shower, we ask that you please let us know before your study if you need to shower in the morning so we can accommodate you. Results of your test will not be ready when you leave in the morning, as the data needs to be analyzed by your physician. Please be sure you follow up with him or her to discuss the results of your sleep study.

Please be advised everyone responds differently to a night of sleep testing. Some patients feel tired and fatigued, while others feel refreshed and energized. Please plan for the following day with this in mind. Regardless of your perception of how well you sleep during your study, the data recorded will reveal a lot of information about your sleep for your physician to interpret. They will be able to review this in detail with you at your follow up.
